Makkah has restaurants, food courts, and street vendors near the Haram; Hajj groups typically provide meals in Mina and Arafat — eat light and stay hydrated.
Makkah offers a wide variety of dining options during Hajj season. Around Masjid al-Haram, you will find restaurants in the Abraj al-Bait complex, hotel restaurants, fast food chains, and numerous local eateries serving Saudi, Indian, Pakistani, Turkish, and Indonesian cuisine. Street vendors sell affordable shawarma, falafel, samosas, and fresh fruit juices throughout the day and night.
During the days of Hajj in Mina and Arafat, most Hajj groups provide pre-packaged meals as part of their service. Independent pilgrims can find food vendors in Mina as well. It is advisable to eat light, easily digestible meals to avoid stomach issues during the physically demanding rituals. Keep snacks like dates, nuts, and energy bars in your bag. Hydration is critical — drink water frequently even when not feeling thirsty.
