Marriage in Ihram(النكاح في الإحرام) The prohibition of contracting marriage, proposing marriage, or acting as a marriage guardian while in the state of ihram. This applies to both Hajj and Umrah and is agreed upon by the majority of scholars.
النكاح في الإحرام
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The muhrim should not marry, give in marriage, or make a proposal of marriage' (Sahih Muslim). This prohibition covers the pilgrim entering into a new marriage contract, serving as the wali (guardian) in someone else's marriage, or making a formal marriage proposal. According to the majority of scholars (Maliki, Shafi'i, Hanbali), any marriage contract performed during ihram is invalid and must be repeated after ihram ends. The Hanafi school considers the contract sinful but technically valid, though this is the minority view. Physical intimacy between existing spouses is also prohibited during ihram and can invalidate the Hajj if it occurs before the standing at Arafat.
