If a person wears stitched clothing during ihram out of forgetfulness or ignorance, there is no sin upon him and no fidyah is required according to the strongest scholarly opinion. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen stated: 'Whoever does a prohibited act of ihram out of forgetfulness, ignorance, or under compulsion, there is no sin upon him and no ransom is required.' This is based on the verse: 'Our Lord, do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake' (Al-Baqarah 2:286). However, he must remove the stitched clothing as soon as he remembers.
