Hajj Ifrad(حَجّ الإِفْرَاد) Hajj Ifrad (single/isolated Hajj) is a type of pilgrimage where the pilgrim performs Hajj alone without combining it with Umrah. No obligatory sacrifice is required, though voluntary sacrifice is recommended.
حَجّ الإِفْرَاد
In Hajj Ifrad, the pilgrim enters Ihram at the Miqat with the intention of Hajj only, saying 'Labbayk Allahumma Hajjan' (Here I am, O Allah, for Hajj). They remain in Ihram and proceed to perform all the Hajj rites: Tawaf al-Qudum (upon arrival, Sunnah), standing at Arafat, staying at Muzdalifah, stoning the Jamarat, Halq/Taqsir, Tawaf al-Ifadah, Sa'i, and Tawaf al-Wida. Since the pilgrim is performing Hajj in isolation without combining Umrah, no Hady (thanksgiving sacrifice) is required, though offering a voluntary sacrifice is recommended. The Shafi'i and Hanbali schools consider Ifrad to be the simplest type of Hajj. It is commonly performed by residents of Makkah and those living within the Miqat boundaries, as they can perform Umrah separately at any time throughout the year. Some scholars, particularly from the Hanafi and Maliki schools, consider Ifrad to be the most virtuous type because the pilgrim dedicates separate journeys to Hajj and Umrah. However, other scholars favor Tamattu based on the Prophet's recommendation to his companions.
